Germany tax-class cash-flow comparison
Compare the timing effect of tax-class arrangements using payroll estimates you already obtained. A smaller withholding is not automatically a smaller final tax.
Your inputs
Start with the example values, then replace them with your own. For tables, keep the vertical bar separators and use a dot for decimals.
Illustrative inputs are not certified current rates or an entitlement decision. Confirm the country, year, eligibility and contract. This limited model is not a tax return, payroll service or financial/legal advice. Do not act on it without verifying the applicable rules.
Tool inputs are processed in your browser and are not submitted by this tool. Existing site analytics and advertising services have their own privacy terms.

How it works
Annualize the two partners' monthly withholdings and compare each sum with entered final household tax. Positive difference means modeled overwithholding. The tool does not calculate German tax classes or eligibility; obtain both withholding and final assessment estimates from an appropriate tax calculator first.
Worked example
These sample results use the original example inputs in the form. They do not change when you edit your inputs; your own result appears in the workspace.
| Tax-class arrangement | Annual withholding | Entered final tax | Refund or negative balance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arrangement A | 9600 | 9600 | 0 |
| Arrangement B | 8400 | 9600 | -1200 |
Read the result carefully
Results depend on the values and assumptions shown above. Change one input at a time to see its effect. A blank or unavailable result means the data does not support a calculation; it is not zero.
