Japan rail-pass dated itinerary comparison
Compare a pass with a dated itinerary, keeping travel outside its validity or coverage payable separately.
Your inputs
Start with the example values, then replace them with your own. For tables, keep the vertical bar separators and use a dot for decimals.
Illustrative inputs are not certified current rates or an entitlement decision. Confirm the country, year, eligibility and contract. This limited model is not a tax return, payroll service or financial/legal advice. Do not act on it without verifying the applicable rules.
Tool inputs are processed in your browser and are not submitted by this tool. Existing site analytics and advertising services have their own privacy terms.

How it works
A leg is covered only if you mark its route covered and its date lies within the inclusive consecutive-day window. Add pass price and uncovered fares, then compare with all separate fares. Eligibility, operators, seat fees and train exclusions must be checked with the pass provider.
Worked example
These sample results use the original example inputs in the form. They do not change when you edit your inputs; your own result appears in the workspace.
- Separate eligible itinerary fares: 46000
- Pass plus uncovered travel: 64000
- Saving from pass: -18000
| Date | Route | Separate fare | Within pass and coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-08 | Route A | 14000 | Yes |
| 2026-10-12 | Route B | 18000 | Yes |
| 2026-10-16 | Route C | 14000 | No |
Read the result carefully
Results depend on the values and assumptions shown above. Change one input at a time to see its effect. A blank or unavailable result means the data does not support a calculation; it is not zero.
