US withholding gap planner
Check whether the withholding in your remaining paychecks matches a tax estimate you already obtained. This supports a W-4 review without pretending to complete the form.
Your inputs
Start with the example values, then replace them with your own. For tables, keep the vertical bar separators and use a dot for decimals.
Illustrative inputs are not certified current rates or an entitlement decision. Confirm the country, year, eligibility and contract. This limited model is not a tax return, payroll service or financial/legal advice. Do not act on it without verifying the applicable rules.
Tool inputs are processed in your browser and are not submitted by this tool. Existing site analytics and advertising services have their own privacy terms.

How it works
Projected withholding = paid withholding + remaining paychecks × regular withholding. Divide a positive liability gap by remaining paychecks. A negative gap is a projected overpayment, not a guaranteed refund; credits, other jobs and estimated payments must already be reflected in your liability input.
Worked example
These sample results use the original example inputs in the form. They do not change when you edit your inputs; your own result appears in the workspace.
- Projected withholding: 7600
- Projected balance due: 1400
- Additional withholding per remaining pay: 116.6667
Read the result carefully
Results depend on the values and assumptions shown above. Change one input at a time to see its effect. A blank or unavailable result means the data does not support a calculation; it is not zero.
